A bit about me:
I am a former chef and professional baker. I grow food, garden for work sometimes, helped start a 5 acre CSA in suburbia, and teach food preservation. I am passionate about canning, sewing and farming. Next up: Mead and Gluten Free beer.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Kohlrabi Fennel slaw with Rhubarb vinaigrette or
Pork Chops (from farmer raised piggies), fried and slathered in my own peach lavender jam served with mixed squashes sauteed with garlic and thyme.
And salad. of course.

Soused Cranberry Jam with Spcie; Homegrown Fair Submission

I've been in such a funk (read blog link), when ever my mind wanders to preserving, I can only think of cranberries and pomegranates (okay, and pears), only one two of those are even remotely local to the North East..

I had a class to teach last night, this is what we made.. enjoy!

Homegrown Fair Submission; Pear Ginger Chutney

Here we are! End of Pear season, full tilt into fall. We just had a snow storm too here in the North East. What odd weather.

A week ago I taught a class on chutney and canning 101.. here are the results!  ENJOY!
