TL & NB are both from farming families in ND and Oh. We have seven awesome kids who are all country and learning the ways of our forefathers. Kids are mostly home-schooled and higher education. We raise our own beef, fowl, pork and sustainable veggies. We are all about being natural but sometimes slip into the proverbial slope of MC.d's We are always looking for more natural ways of doing things and then teaching our kids.

Where in ND are you from? My wife was raised on a farm outside of Regent, ND with a family of 6 kids and I was raised on a farm in Montgomery County, PA, albeit many years ago before bring drafted!! Welcome to Homegrown!
Unbelievable coincidence both of our wives being from such a small city in North Dakota. My wife, Dorene, family name is Koppinger, and she went to school with Dorene Binstock back in 1973. Her family is still around Dickinson,New England, Regent and Minn. Again, welcome, and jump in with both feet. There are a lot of very helpful, knowledgable folks on the board, and the staff are very supportive, especially our web shepherd Jennifer. Keep in touch. John and Dee
Hi, NB & TL. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I’m the flock tender here: site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content. I’m so glad you found us—and how awesome that you and Dr. John, one of our most active and awesome HOMEGROWN members, have family in common! I hope you’ll turn up plenty of projects and ideas here to help spur you on, and I hope you’ll be game for sharing some of your own, too, in our member blog, The Stew—more on your livestock and your homeschooling, please! Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you ever need help finding your way around, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
WOW! Dee is excited about the information you posted. And I see you met Jennifer already! She is one great person!!! I can't wait till that time comes. Ellie actually is already a homesteader without knowing it. I took some time off from my other chores this past week and weaved her a baby blanket. I picked up that skill over the past two weeks, with help from numerous You Tube videos. LOL! Next weekend when we visit, we will share some teaching time with the grandsons learning how to weave a potholder using a kids loop loom and my knitting/weaving loom. Should be a lot of fun! Well back to the dehydrator, fermenter, canner, and the smoker. Tomatoes and cucumbers wait for no man!!
