Getting some rain up here in Copperas Cove, got a bunch of seedlings started and have to transition them outside now. Here's hoping the rain keeps coming!

My first jalapeno is almost ready to pick!  Seems like it took a bit longer than normal, but hey, at least i've got one...now i can make some salsa!

I have a pepper growing, bush beans bustin out, and the tomatoes are getting huge! Had to repot a few to bigger pots today. Looking for a good yield this year. I have a variety of mints growing like crazy now too. Hope we keep on getting rain, I water my in ground garden, and a lot of my stuff is in containers, so I'm not as dependent on it, but we still need the rain. Waiting to see how the summer heat affects the crop this year.

Well, I know it's been a while, but my wife and I moved to a new house across town with a much bigger back yard AND full sun!  Plans for the new garden are under way.  More updates to come, but let me just say this:

Large fenced off garden, fruit trees/shrubs, small chicken coop, and compost operation...

...and that's just the beginning.

Hey all - we are doing great things in Austin. My backyard garden consists of fennel, greens, lemongrass, nasturtium, strawberries and more. We are also documenting the future of ATX growth - check it out and share please http://www.homegrown.org/video/farm-city-state-trailer

Good morning, fellow Texans.  Is this cold weather ever going to leave?  I live just outside of Austin on 3 acres.  I started my seedlings 2 weeks ago and have corn, pole beans and peas coming up.  Also have a couple hardy jalapeno and yellow squash plantlings.  Last year, we tried a new raised bed garden.  We lined with mesh for weeds, and bought top soil, cow manure, etc.  Well, the plants all did well, but never produced.  Broccoli went to seed; does anyone have some good suggestions?  I was going to mix in all the ash from the woodstove from this winter, and try again.

Nicholas, not to intrude, but i have had good luck finding canning jars at places like walmart and target. If youre not too turned off by corporate establishments.
