The photo above is of the chicks when they are just a day or two old... I can't stop staring into the box at them rambling around!
We're taking photos and video each week so we can keep track of how they grow and share some basic how-to information on raising the chicks. We have raised egg laying hens before but this is our first time with meat birds. They will be full grown in two months.
Hope you have as much fun watching the chicks as I do, video is posted here:

See you next week!

Aw, thanks Jay! Just posted a photo and video of week 3... they have definitely gone from little puffballs to little lizard birds :)
Ellen- I think there might be other people who know way more about chickens than I do who could answer your question... we are only keeping the chickens until they are fully grown at 6-8 weeks and then they will become eating chickens. I don't really know how to sex chickens that young but I bet if you search http://www.backyardchickens.com/ someone will be able to answer your question.
Comment by Ellen Peavey on March 11, 2012 at 9:26am How do you sex this chicks that are so young? I don't want any more roosters only want hens, any time you buy them at a feed store you take your chances on too many rooster's. So what can I do to solve this problem? Ellen from Georgia
Can't get enough of this.
