I'm new around here, and thought I'd introduce myself!
My family and I live in central Virginia. We have had a somewhat successful kitchen garden for the last 3 years or so, growing mostly salad greens, kale, herbs and a few random other veggies. I've been trying for the last few years to master the arts of bread making and making jams and preserves. I recently finished reading Radical Homemakers, and it really solidified a lot of thoughts that have been rambling through my head for quite a while now. I find this book so inspiring and my family and I have decided to make it a reality for us, as much as possible.
So, to begin, we are currently trying to get rid of the mountains of stuff in our house in preparation to sell our house next year. We dream of building a Tiny House and hopefully finding a apprenticeship on a farm in New England. We're not sure what exactly we want to do, we just know that we want to get off this endless wheel of meaningless work and find a better way to live.
We have a 2 year old son, and he is SO MUCH of the inspiration for this new journey we are on. I dream of him growing up in nature, climbing trees, chasing butterflies and playing in streams. He was born here at home, and that really was like a rebirth for both of us in so many ways.
This seems like a great community to be a part of....I'm so glad to have found you all! Drop me a line anytime, I'd love to talk to all of you and soak up some of the vast wisdom around here!
