HOMEGROWN

Celebrate the culture of agriculture & share skills (Growing! Cooking! Eating!)

We had a busy, wonderful day today.

Frank and Riley worked on a real door for the greenhouse. They hung it a little while ago and then came in to watch the rest of the golf tournament.

Yesterday, the kids had helped me fill 200 peat pots with the "tobacco/vegetable soil" that we got from the supply store. Today, I spent a couple of hours putting seeds into the pots, labeling them (until I ran out of "popsicle" sticks!), and organizing stuff around the greenhouse. Nadia helped for a bit.

I've noticed that some plants in the greenhouse stay wet until the next day (I water in the mornings), while others are totally dry in the morning. So, I've taking to shuffling plants around a bit to try to move the wet/dry ones into each other's spots. We'll see how that works this week!

In the meantime, the seeds that we planted a few weeks ago have been coming up. We have cucumbers, pumpkins, broccoli, cauliflower, cantaloupe, tomatoes, and a few other things coming up. I'm most eager for the chile peppers to break ground. :-)
