Celebrate the culture of agriculture & share skills (Growing! Cooking! Eating!)

We got our first 2 eggs tonight! Since Peckerina, our White Leghorn, is the only white egg layer we have, we assume the smaller egg was laid yesterday, and the larger one today? They're fairly small, but I'm assuming they will get bigger as she fully matures. She's 17 weeks on Monday. Regardless, we are very excited!

Besides receiving our first eggs, we also got 4 additional hens! A customer on my husband's route had some aging pullets on discount, so we couldn't refuse! Got 2 Rhode Island Reds that are 8 weeks old, and 2 Barred Rocks that are 5 weeks old. We're keeping them separated from the older hens for a few weeks... We now have a total of 9 hens- 1 White Leghorn, 2 ISA Browns, 2 Black Jersey Giants, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Barred Rock.

Thanks :) I'm already looking out for people who might be interested in buying a dozen here or there. Us 3 can't eat them all LOL
