Polluted water is one of the leading causes of various health hazards. The waste from industries, homes, etc. all goes into the water bodies which are the main source of water. When a human body comes into contact with contaminated water, it gets afflicted with water-borne diseases. There are many impurities in the water which can cause harmful diseases such as germs and microbes, dissolved salts like sodium, magnesium and sulfates, chemicals like chlorine, fluoride, arsenic, lead, and mercury. Cholera is a waterborne disease caused by bacteria which is present in polluted water. Cholera is an infection in the small intestine. Some of its symptoms are dehydration, stomach upset, diarrhoea. Typhoid is a bacterial infection caused either by drinking contaminated water or consuming food that has been made or washed by contaminated water. Symptoms of typhoid are high fever, vomiting, weakness, body pain or sometimes internal bleeding. It can be cured by antibiotic treatment and hospitalization in some cases. The person suffering from typhoid should eat light food with no oil and fewer spices in it. And the patient should take complete bed rest.

There are two types of ulcers; stomach ulcers which are also called gastric ulcers, these are painful sores in the stomach lines, caused by drinking impure water. Mouth ulcers occur when the stomach is upset due to consuming impure water. Hepatitis is an inflammatory situation of the liver. Symptoms of hepatitis are fatigue, high fever, yellowish colour of the skin and eyes or nausea. Fluorosis is a chronic condition caused by intake of fluorine compounds, it is hypomineralization of the tooth enamel that is caused by excessive intake of fluoride. Fluoride is the chemical present in impure water. Discolouration of teeth, deep pits in the teeth are the things to worry as these might be the symptoms of fluorosis. This can be treated by whitening of the enamel or crowns and veneers on the teeth. You can also try bonding the tooth with enamel.
