We hope to use this lesson from my Mom and introduce unusual seed during the Grow And Share children’s educational classes at the greenhouse…. and when we present at schools or scout troop meetings.
These are seeds we request…

I was lurking around here trying to find a soup thread somewhere, but it seems that the recipes have yet to pour in!
So without further ado, I will leave mine for the week.
It's nothing I'm too proud of -definitely a recipe from one of those cookbooks that you feel like a cheater to use- but I must say the times I've made it it's quite a lovely dish. The flavors are very delicate and feel a little sophisticated, but not so different that they scare away the meat and potato…

My boyfriend (I call him Chicken-Man on my blog) has been talking about hunting a deer for some time. But we live in Baltimore City and have busy schedules, and it's been hard to plan a trip.
Yesterday, sometime really insane happened, and it looks like the venison came…

Ahhh, it's that time of year when everything that grows outdoors start to take a colorful turn to give us a spectacular show of color just before forfeiting their exteriors to the soil. I like to compare it to a summer time festival where everyone is having a grand ol time appreciating the company of others and making new…

We are not gardeners of sorts, we just wanted to grow and preserve our own food. As much as we could at least. This year has proven to us that it can be done. From the garden years ago in my parents’ backyard I formed my little bit of background in “backyardiculture.” It was the tips from two…

I've got at least four heads of cabbage stored up from my CSA share, and it's been a lot of fun coming up with different recipes for both raw and cooked cabbage.
The other night I wanted a fresh salad to go with a roasted chicken and sweet potatoes, so I made the salad pictured above. Here's an ingredients…

I love clicker training. I use it to train all my dogs and puppies. It's an amazing tool, but I have to admit I've never considered using it to train my goats. At least not until I saw this. Amazing.
I've had such amazing success with dogs using a clicker that I don't have to be sold on it's value as a training tool. It's what they use at places like Sea World to train the marine animals and was introduced to dog trainers by a former Sea World trainer,…
