Starting rosemary seeds and cheap grow-light set-up

This is my first year growing seeds indoors. I was tempted to begin this new venture with an elaborate set-up but decided to starts slowly and cheaply. That way, if my plants fail, I won't be quite so upset.

Carol's Homemade Cranberry Orange Bagels

I’m not sure how or why she tried making bagels, but last night she did. They turned out pretty good, too.  I was not familiar with the bagel making process, so it was a bit odd to observe.  To be honest, I had no idea. I guess I just thought of a bagel as a poor quality doughnut.  lol

Bunnies & Beer, It's A Good Thing

kefir starter available in Boston area

I've been making my own kefir since 2003, downing nearly a quart a day.  I've also been sharing it on Boston freecycle, since the starter or "grains" grow as I make it.  However recently Bfc has discovered that kefir produces alcohol, in minute quantities, but still, measurable.  So they won't let me post the offer anymore.  Craig'slist won't accept open containers of food.  I can of course eat the grains, they're rubbery but full of life.  I'd rather share them.

Anyone have any spare fiberoptic cables (bundles of strands--about 6 mm)?

 

also could use some copper sheeting, 2 square feet

The Calves Are Coming... I Hope

Sometime ago, in late summer, we brought in a new bull - a proven bull. It seems our little bull (Sampson), was first declared a young bull, by a neighbor... then a dud, by us.
