I have always detested pre-made foods and whenever possible cooked from scratch. I love learning WHY things work or don't work so I can actually learn.
I am not a very good gardener, and never had time or space to learn to be better. But we strive to be as organic as possible and keep the fridge full of fresh stuff.
The last of our 3 children recently moved out so we eat a lot better now. :) Cooking is easier, but still making from scratch.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Tomatoes and Basil (yes, from our garden!) sauteed with LOTS OF garlic, onion, bell pepper. Poured over organic pasta, served with Trader Joes organic rustic bread. I love summer :)
