"Is this medium good for FL? I have never heaard of using straw and wonder if it is too hot here.  Any ideas for a newcomer to veggie growing in Orlando FL? Any good crops? Where should I buy my plants? I would appreciate ANY input."

A bit about me:
I love health and nutrition and I am in the medical field. I love to eat organic whenever possible. I enjoy shopping at Whole Foods but finding it a challenge in this economy. Finding local fresh food is an interest of mine as well as cooking. I would like to go and pick produce as well but don't know where in central FL I can do this.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
I made tabouli and couldn't stop eating it. Every bite was full of healthy and nutritious organic parsley, tomatoes and I added cucumber for an added crunch. Yummy
Currently reading:
Anything I can get my hands on pertaining to anti aging and skin care to better serve my clients.
Currently listening to:
Easy listening Jazz of any kind.
My latest DIY project:
That ripe papya is a great mask for your skin? It gently exfoliates leaving a smother glowing face. Mash well and put on face for 20 min, rinse with tepid water
