On the path to freedom!

Our first step on the path to freedom from capitalism is to PURGE PURGE PURGE the mountains of crap we have collected in the four years we have lived in this house. I am selling my entire library of books on Amazon, hosting a yard sale this weekend (and I'm being ruthless, I may have to drug and lock my husband up in a closet on yard sale day to keep him from intervening on behalf of his beloved Star Wars possessions)...

I've been able to barter away some furniture in lieu of having…

Hello everyone!

I'm new around here, and thought I'd introduce myself!

My family and I live in central Virginia. We have had a somewhat successful kitchen garden for the last 3 years or so, growing mostly salad greens, kale, herbs and a few random other veggies. Urban foraging!

So, we made our first attempt at urban foraging last week. I discovered a crab apple tree near the library, and we went and harvested about half of what was on the tree.

Hi, Shannon. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content). I’m so glad you found us. Sounds like your family is possibly on the cusp of a big transition; I hope you find lots of useful resources here at HOMEGROWN. Give me a holler if you ever have questions or need help locating something on the site. You can always find the latest additions at the very top of the homepage, and not far underneath that, you'll find our member blog, The Stew. Actually, let me plant a bee in your bonnet now about that: I'd love it if you were inclined to post about your experiences as you ponder a rural move. Just a thought! In the meantime, I hope you feel right at home!
