"Thanks for visiting Shellie. It was very good. I think with a little pork rub, these could almost pass for pork chops too. Just leave the 'shelves' unsliced. I think I'll try that next."

Awe~Naturale

We most often think of spring as a starting place, a place for birth, re-birth, growth ... but I didn't get here til now, so ... I'll open my blog as I open to you at Homegrown, Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.  I enjoy nature and it's gifts. Yesterday I had the time to go to a wooded lot (hillside) behind the house to look for Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. I just started looking for fall mushrooms. I'd never harvested any except for morels in the spring. I've been lucky for about two weeks now in…See More

Newbies - Just starting out

A place for those of us who are just dipping our toes into Homegrown living. Maybe we're looking to change how we buy our food, what we buy...Maybe we've started our first garden and have questions. If you're green, this is the place for you!

Hi, Sam. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content). I’m so glad you found us—and the Hunting, Gathering, and Foraging group in particular. I hope you’ll consider sharing photos of your foraged goodies (and tales of your foraging adventures) in our member blog, The Stew. I’d love to read and see more of what you’ve found—and I bet I’m not the only one. Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you’ve ever got questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
