Big garden this year taught me more about harvesting and preserving. Chicken coop and run almost ready. Still trying to master composting a mile up.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Autumn stew with homegrown tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and herbs and store bought onions, garlic and mushrooms. (baby steps, baby steps)...also made Jackapple cake from a recipe on Cold Antler Farm blog.
Currently listening to:
Hometown Tales, episode 268
My latest DIY project:
Chicken run fencing from chain link; now gotta plant chicken wire barriers under and above ground; we've got a wildlife refuge up the block with a pack of coyotes and wandering neighborhood dogs. Will need a pergola, too, on account of red-tailed hawks and great horned owls...
Hi Robbie, welcome to HOMEGROWN. Composting a mile up - ha - had never occurred to me, but it is like high elevation cooking! I hope you're not being impacted by the fires out there! There is a group of Rocky Mtn folk here if you'd like to connect with the locals. Enjoy! http://www.homegrown.org/group/elevatedgardening
