BIO-Rita Brown 2008
Born July 5, 1960 in Washington DC to a Catholic Republican Dad and a Baptist Democrat Mom. Rita now resides in Warren, Vermont and is the proud mother of 2 healthy sons Louie age14 and Jessee age 21.Rita is a direct descendant of “The Princess of Peace”, Pocahontas. Rita left a lucrative Real Estate career behind in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and moved to the greener pastures of The Mad River Valley of Vermont in 1989 to open and operate The Mad River Inn till 1995.
Rita has been planning events from Charitable Organizations to Weddings and Community endeavors including Fundraising events, Concerts and Music Festivals for the past 20 years. She voluntarily plans all of the events for the NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) of Vermont for the past 10 years and is now the president of The Vermont Chapter. She has chaired with SOS (Share Our Strength) National Hunger Relief and supports The Fresh Air Fund and Charitable Organizations that focus on Global PEACE, Ending Hunger, The Environment, Teaching Tolerance or Helping Children. She is The Founder of The Mad River Music Festival since 1997, a past Vermont Festival of The Arts headline event. Rita sat on the board for the non-profit organization Rootswork and is the director for Rootswork LOVE IS…PEACE program 2004-2009, helping transition schools to serve local, healthy, Organic foods while educating children about sustainability. Events Rita plans support Live Music and the Arts. She has had a weekly radio show on Warren, Vermont’s WMRW’s 95.1 fm called The“ O” Show featuring Live Music performances. Rita has been a supporter of Willie Nelson’s Farm Aid for over 20 years and is an advocate for Organic Agriculture and nutritious food for everyone. She believes in healthy living as preventative medicine. She also owns and manages “A Sanctuary on Blueberry Lake” Retreat planning exquisite Vermont Vacations, Weddings, Workshops, Concerts and Catered Events.
