A place for those of us who are just dipping our toes into Homegrown living. Maybe we're looking to change how we buy our food, what we buy...Maybe we've started our first garden and have questions. If you're green, this is the place for you!

What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Fill in the Blank
Fill in the blank:
I think I am somewhere between Earth Mama and 100% Homegrown. While I enjoy growing my own food, I hate weeding the garden! And while I have never lived on a farm, I am dying to get my hands on one!
A bit about me:
I am a single mother of three, and in a moment of clarity in my early thirties, I realized that having one grandmother with alzheimer's, and another in her eighties, they would not live forever. So, with tools in hand, and a video camera, I set off to Nana's house, and she taught me, and hopefully a few generations to come, how to can tomatoes. Since then, she has taught me about canning other vegetables, and I have taught her green beans (she said hers never kept!)
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
yankee pot roast in a cast iron pot
Currently reading:
the school lunch menu. "Uh, excuse me..? Is this REAL food?"
Currently listening to:
Kenny, Keith, Alan...and Patsy Cline! And Maroon 5, Hoobastank, Kid Rock...Brad, Miranda....shall I go on?
My latest DIY project:
Ugh.. Moving. 'nuff said.

Hi, Rebecca. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content). I’m so glad you found us! I’m guessing that, with three kids to raise and delicious-sounding pot roasts to cook, you tend to stay pretty busy, but if you ever have a few minutes to spare and want to post photos of your gardening triumphs, don’t be shy! And/or, if you’re game for sharing photos or stories of canning with your nana, I would gently (nudge, nudge) encourage you to do so in our member blog, The Stew. Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the very top of the homepage, and if you’ve got questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
