What is the best way to store the mother/mushroom/scoby? I've been keeping her in a closed jar with some of the tea mixture from the last batch...do I need to feed her sugar? Keep her in the fridge? In the dark, but warm? Help.
I grew up in the 'burbs with a compost pile in the backyard. Now that I'm living in the big city, my hippie blood has come back with a vengeance, and homemade homegrown is where my head is at. I've got some worms and recently I've started making yogurt from raw milk. Hopefully this spring will bring a bumper crop of container grown veggies!

Hey, Did you make another batch of kombucha with the moldy scoby? I read you're supposed to ditch the batch and rinse the colony really well under cold water before starting again.
