"Agreed! I never make things like this because pie crust can be a pain sometimes, but you are encouraging me to make a big batch and store it in the freezer. Looks gorgeous."

Summer Heaven Veggie Sandwich

(Or otherwise known as: The Sandwich Which is God’s Compensation for the Heat in Texas…)And sweet compensation is it! It’s no small matter to taste the broiling sun in the juice of a tomato, or to sense the coolness of the shade coming off an eggplant, or to brush clumps of local grit off an onion… And peppers! Don’t get me started on the green ones, the yellow ones, the orange ones, the long ones, the…See More

Fill in the Blank
Fill in the blank:
Committed local sustainable and/or organic cook. Everyday.
A bit about me:
Fortunate to live in a place where CSA comes year round. It's a relief to have my meals decided for me each week. My 3 kids are mostly grown and together with my husband they declare that I have "ruined" them for any other kind of cuisine!
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Eggplant sandwich a la a Shady Grove, Austin.
Pasta with fresh tomatoes, basil and garlic.
Shall I go on...we cook every nite!

Tomato Sauce for Pasta, Fresh and Uncooked

It’s ROUND ONE: Battle of the Fresh Tomato Pasta Sauce. In tonight’s corner we have “Uncooked.” But, uncooked doesn’t mean lacking. No, ma’am. I think you’ll find that this pasta sauce will put up quite a fight. In fact, if we were in some kind of “Farmer’s Market Boxing Ring,” I think the announcer would say something…
