My family has a 300 acre farm that grows soy, corn and raises pigs (I am a vegetarian.:) We have an acre vegetable garden to raise most of the vegetables our family needs for the year. We grow organic, raise on whole grains and do our best to teach our children and friends the value of REAL FOOD! It's hard work, but it tastes soooo good!
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Corn and potato chowder ~ gluten and dairy free. Made my own recipe and my daughter said it was the BEST soup she has ever had.
Hi, Melissa. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content). I’m so glad you found us! Did you come to us through the Farm Aid website or were you at last weekend’s concert? I’m guessing, since you’re a PA gal, maybe the latter? If so, WOW! We loved Pennsylvania. Everyone was so incredibly nice—and what an amazing farming community. I bet I’m not the only one at HOMEGROWN who’d be interested in hearing more about your family’s farm and personal garden. Please don’t be shy about sharing stories, photos, and recipes—hello, corn and potato chowder!—in our member blog, The Stew. I think folks would be pretty interested in a description of how you built your fire pit, too. Actually, can you tell me a bit more about that? Are we talking more like a pit for a campfire-style fire? Or more like an outdoor oven? If the former, I might try to twist your arm into writing a 101 for us. Anyway, elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the very top of the homepage, and if you’ve ever got questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
