"Lizz, that sounds like the original container garden. What are you growing in the feed bags? I would like to try that using empty feed bags from our local Feed supplier. Would you add this to the container gardening 101 as a container option?…"

Local Farm being bullied by Town

This farm is one town over from where I live and in Rhode Island ya know thats pretty close.  I hooked up with Pine View Farm last year and begin using the lard from their pigs in my soap making business so what the town is doing to them also effects me.  Here is the story......

HomeGrown Fair Submission Soap Making!

Over the summer I hooked up with a local farmer who raises pigs without using hormones and feeds them a good healthy diet. He always saved the fat after he sent them to the butcher but couldn't convince his customers of the benefits   of using it in their cooking. Farmer Frank had a freezer full of unwanted piggy fat:(  During a farmers market we were both selling at I asked him about his lard and he gladly gave me close to 15 pounds to make…

Small Business and Insurance and WholeFoods?

I have been contacted by my local WholeFoods regarding my products( MyWIckedGarden.com). They are interested in selling them, but have told me it is mandatory to have 2 million dollars worth of insurance before they will stock my items. Also I was told I need bar codes on my products. Any one gone threw this or have any advice for me?
Thanks :)

Flooded Herbalist

We are trying to draw some attention to our disaster of a back yard. We have signed up in hops to be part of ABC 6 Extreme Backyard Makeover in turn our pictures and story have generated many comments! I would like to keep them going. It would be most helpful if you could take a peek at our story and perhaps leave a comment on what you think of the situation. The winner is picked at random so I am not using your comments to win this contest just to show some light on my situation.

Lizz, I love your knitted pumpkins and acorns! How festive :) Maybe you'd be interested in writing a HOMEGROWN 101 on Knitting and Fiber Arts for us? Let me know!

Is there an easier way to contact you than going through the message boards? You can email me at maureen@itsallconnectedliving.com or through my website www.itsallconnectedlivig.com. There is a protocol that I came up with that might really help you, but I would run out of character space here. Maureen

Lizz, I missed the spot on the friend request where I could add a personal message, so I'm commenting here in case you're wondering, "who on earth is that person?" We haven't met, so I'm sure you're still wondering that ... the short version is that your posts about foot-dragging family members made me smile. I've seen so many stories now about amazing husband-wife teams that I was beginning to question whether this path is possible for those of us who, at least for now, are going it alone. Thanks!

Wow, I read that you are growing valerian in a comment you left for Cornelia. I'm curious to learn more!

I am in love with valerian tea (although my friends tease me about the smell, which I really don't think smells bad if you smell it up close). I've been thinking about growing my own but haven't done that much research yet.

I'll probably order the valerian through Horizon Herbs. Do you recommend growing from seed? What kind?

Thanks! Off to check out your site..
