Leon Hale commented on Helen Heil's group 'Apiarists'
"I keep two deep hive bodies on mine just for brood chambers, then add my supers on top of those. Gives the queen lots more space to lay eggs. I also reverse them each spring.   Most bee keepers I know have been keeping bees for 30 + years and…"

Leon Hale commented on Helen Heil's group 'Apiarists'
"Christene,   In my humble opinion you need to add another Hive body ASAP, too many bees, not enough space. Too much heat buildup in the hive, they need more room. If you have a reducer take it off. Your bees do look healthy, they have just run…"

100% Homegrown
Fill in the blank:
"When you feel you can't take another step, take just one more"
A bit about me:
I'm 64 years old. I grew up in South West Virginia but have spent most of my life here in the Piedmont of central NC.

We live near Asheboro NC in the Uwharrie National Forest on a very secluded tract of land consisting of several acres. We grow most all our food on several plots . This summer 2010 we canned, froze and dehydrated nearly 1200 quarts of food. We also have 4 hives of honey bees, one top bar and three standard hives
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Sorry, I do the canning, my wife does the cooking, and believe me she is the greatest cook of all time
