What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Earth Mama
A bit about me:
Avid organic gardener on a 1/3 acre urban/suburban lot. Currently put up (dry, can & freeze) enough fruits & veggies to provide consistent flavors of summer throughout the entire winter & spring seasons for 2 of us.
For work, I design sustainable, high-performance buildings, and am watching the construction of my most recent design project, the Great Basin Community Food Co-op. This is the second location I've designed for them. Life is good, I am blessed.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Hearty winter soup chock full of dehydrated veggies and herbs from my garden steeped in broth stored as freezer pucks made from the de-liquifecation process of drying raw crackers and raw tomato paste. Typically served with a hearty loaf of local bread. The ultimate eating for our winter household.
Currently reading:
Writing the Change the World, by Mary Pipher
Currently listening to:
I'm taking Portuguese lessons, so I'm listening to my practice audio for my upcoming trip to Brazil.
My latest DIY project:
Weave together lengths of VHS tape to create a textile I use for my one-of-a-kind handbags. The fun part is the variations in weave pattern, not from changing the weave, but from turning the tape to opposite sides in various patters, while maintaining the standards 1:1 weave. Super-subtle in the light, but real eye-candy for a mostly unwanted and plentiful product.

Way to go fighting UNR's rezoning! That is such a precious resource. Let's do the right thing with it.

My husband spent happy years there learning about dairy farming. Please let me know if there is a venue for people like Mark and me to weigh in.
