"I brought it up to boil and boiled for 5 minutes before canning.  When I open a can, I can load it down with butter and sugar in the pot, but I didn't think that I'd have to do that to make it edible.  Maybe I'll try…"

"I canned sweet white corn the other day.  I microwaved an ear to taste-test it and it was good.  When it comes out of the jar, it has no taste.  Can someone tell me what happened?"

"Yes, I did.  I did the whole 5 # at a time with 3 TBS. of salt each time.  I only had 10 pounds of green for one batch and 7 pounds of red for the other.  They didn't come to 'juice' enough to cover the cabbage, so I…"

"I did that exact recipe, only it was in my Ball Complete book.  I had even cooked and cooled brine for both batches.  When I lifted the plate, I guess all the liquid went towards the bottom of the bucket and that it wasn't enough to…"

"Well, I don't think either bucket is ready. The one bucket with red cabbage is still bubbling. When I removed the plate from the other bucket with green cabbage, all the liquid disappeared. I'm making some brine to put on it. I did taste…"

"It was 3 weeks Tuesday.  I've got plates on top of the kraut weighted with half gallon Golden Harvest jars filled with water.  There's 2-3 inches of liquid on top of the plates.  I've got the buckets in a spare bedroom…"

"PAT.....I've tried to email you about this, but it won't send for some reason.  My buckets of kraut are cloudy and have some type of stuff growing around the bucket and the weight.  It looks like a tape worm.  I know…"

"I used the extra 20% of pectin mentioned in the recipe when I first cooked it. I had more than 6 cups of prepared tomatoes, but I measured out 6 cups for the recipe. I used real sugar. I'm always open for advice, Harriet. I really don't…"

"My tomato preserves didn't set at all.  I'm going to re-make it, but instead of using powdered pectin, which is what the recipe calls for, can I use liquid pectin??"
