"You gotsta LOVE the library! And the two big questions I end up, at some point, asking people I become close with is A. Are you registered and DO you vote, and B. Do you have a library card. Libraries: a great resource for all."
A place for those of us who are just dipping our toes into Homegrown living. Maybe we're looking to change how we buy our food, what we buy...Maybe we've started our first garden and have questions. If you're green, this is the place for you!
I prefer pie to cake. And if given the choice I'll hands DOWN go with the flapjack over the pancake! (Sure, there is no difference in 'the product', but just say both words, go ahead, I'll wait.............................. See. Flapjack just sounds waaay more fun.)
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Stir fried cabbage, onions, yellow 'summer' squash, with onions and garlic...and a WEE bit of bacon (from my pigs).
The Lance and The Shield, Profitable Fruit-Growing for Cottagers and Small Holders of Land, and Buddhism for Busy People, which I doubt I'll get through - too damn busy.
Currently listening to:
Tool's Lateralus, ELO's Greatest Hits, Neil Young's Greendale, Grand Funk Rail Road's Greatest Hits cd, Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside, etc.
My latest DIY project:
Fixing my cow-abused fencing. 'The grass IS always greener' as they say.
Yes! Bread making was easier than I thought it would be. I keep meaning to make a huge batch of dough for the week, so I can just grab some pre-made dough every few days and shorten the cooking time.
Slashing the top is a good idea, I'll try it! I usually just spray the dough with a little water b/c I like a nice crust. Although milk and egg are good too, depending on how soft or shiny I want my bread to be!
