Jerry Peterson replied to Natalie Ratliff's discussion 'My Watermelon Pickle Crawl'
"Sharon, I don't suppose you have a specific recipe for your watermelon pickles that you would be willing to share.  I agree with the farmer you chatted with and would like a recipe that isn't overly sweet.  Watermelons are lining…"

Jerry Peterson replied to Ginger Watkin's discussion 'Pressure canner required? (Tomatoes +)' in the group Food Preservation
"I'm pretty comfortable using my water bath canner, but I would love to learn how to use a pressure canner.  I've tried to keep my eyes open to classes around me for several years now and haven't found any. One day I'll…"

What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Fill in the Blank
Fill in the blank:
Dirt Under My Fingernails City Slicker with a farm in NC
A bit about me:
I'm an obsessive gardener, into fermented foods, cooking, preserving food one way or another. I make all my own bread and hope to build an earth oven soon. Always working on a lap quilt too.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
All made by hand - whole wheat pasta with pesto and borlotti beans served with sourdough baguette and nibby buckwheat butter cookies for dessert.
Currently reading:
The Death of Common Sense
Currently listening to:
NPR
My latest DIY project:
Built a field fence around the farm in NC. Now I understand why fencing companies charge so much!
