Reclaiming Sundays

{Photo taken from the top of Cadillac Mountain | Bar Harbor, ME | September 2011}Yesterday I woke up with purpose. I was determined to have a relaxing day at home. No housework, no internet frenzy, no gardening, nothing. I wanted to reclaim what Sundays felt like as a kid. Where we visited family, ate popcorn for…See More

Fill in the blank:
Raised Bed Gardener
A bit about me:
I live in 'very' northern Maine (right up against Canada). During my childhood, my parents attempted to live off the land for a while, but without 'success.' Now, in my late twenties, I am trying to reclaim their original goals and get back to the basics: local food, home cooking, and simple living.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
I'm more of a baker, so I'd have to say:
Peanut Butter Cookies (my great-grandmother's recipe)
Currently reading:
Food Politics
Currently listening to:
The Ghost of Paul Revere : "San Antone"
(The Ghost is a holler folk band out of Portland, Maine.)
My latest DIY project:
ripping off wallpaper in my bathroom and replacing it with a paint called "Foggy Mirror!

Hi, Jenna. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content), and I can’t wait to check out The Ghost of Paul Revere. Thanks for the tip! Your salads—and all of your simple-living endeavors—are definitely things the HOMEGROWN community will want to hear more about. I’m so glad you already found The Stew, and I hope you’ll keep posting. Plus, since you’re a raised-bed gardener, don’t be shy about sharing photos of your gardening triumphs—instant bragging rights! If you’ve ever got a question, just leave me a comment or email me at wehunt@farmaid.org. I’m thrilled you found us and hope you feel right at home!
