"Yes, I know about using mothballs, but prefer not to have the chemicals in my wool.  Freezing works well for me.  I also try to wash fleeces asap after they've been in freezer, too. "

"Brenda, I've been told that you can just keep it in large sealed bags and put in some moth balls and that will keep the bugs out and kill off the live ones & larva in the fibers. Moth balls give off a gas as they age, hence the reason they…"

"If this fleece has been in storage for a while, it could have moth larva in it.  Keep it outside, and bring in a trashbag at a time (or whatever you have room for) and place in freezer for a few days.  I learned the hard way--I, too was…"

Now keeping in mind that she volunteered for all this. Killing. Plucking. Gutting. The works. After the killing, she decided she was traumatized and couldn't do any more. While we waited…See More

"My Mother was a weaver and also carded her own fleece, wool and silk and used a spinning wheel to make her yarns.  You might want to get in touch with your local "Weaving Society" or a good yarn shop that supplies wool blends. They…"

Fleece, wool, and a trailer

So this evening, my wonderful neighbor and friend brought me home a trailer full of fleece. Yes, a trailer. There has to be a ton of the stuff ranging from alpaca and angora to sheep. So, the question becomes, is there a mill or a faster way to process the stuff near Tallahassee? Anyone got any ideas? HELP!
