A Plethora of Pesto

I originally developed these eight recipes for a workshop I teach on growing and using culinary herbs. Most call for fresh herbs, but a few, like the white bean pesto and sun dried tomato pesto don't, making them perfect for the winter months. The recipes are available in PDF format as eight recipes cards designed to download and…See More

Kirsten Madaus commented on Elizabeth Carls's blog post 'Tips for Shopping the Farmer's Market'
"Thanks, Elizabeth! I normally shop at our farmer's market for spices, honey and maple syrup, and I agree that returning the containers when I go back for more is a good policy. I'm looking for a source for bulk buying of wheat berries, so…"

Dirt Under My Fingernails City Slicker, Fill in the Blank
Fill in the blank:
Urban Homesteader
A bit about me:
I'm living a creative life in Minneapolis, MN; doing my best to appreciate the beautiful useful things and make peace with middle-age.

I keep a visual journal, make a drawing most every day, collage, paint, sew, felt, and play with words. There is not an art supply out there safe from my curiosity and I hoard piles of paper, fabric, and fiber.

I'm an urban gardener creating a turf-free, pollinator-friendly oasis in the middle of the city. I beleive in an edible landscape, having dirt in my hair, and a future in beekeeping.

I have been known to swoon over a well chosen word, and fall deeply in love with eloquence. I have an insatiable appetite for a well told story, I read like a maniac and hear poetry when I eavesdrop.

I practice yoga and I practice peace. I believe in kindness and try hard to never be an asshole. I'm currently teaching yoga at several studios in Minneapolis.
