I have been growing a garden, canning, cooking, knitting, etc since I was a teen. We have a little less than an acre in a country neighborhood, wish we had more but am thankful for our sweet place. I am good friends with a generous sustainability farmer, I lend a hand often, he shares eggs, chickens, etc. to pay the bills, I teach at a small liberal arts college.

Welcome to the Homegrown community. Since I've joined I have learned many new and shared some of my favorite things. You will have a great time exploring all the information members contribute. Are you using any particular plans for your shelves? I need to build some for the many books I have... which could possibly be classified as a small library. Thank goodness for "Kindle" or I would need a larger house. Please post pictures of your shelves when they are done - I would love to see them.
Hi, Diane. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here: site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content. I’m so glad you found us. Although I’m in Massachusetts now, I spent the last dozen years in Chicago and really treasured my visits to Wisconsin. Sounds like you have a great relationship with your local farmer, and I bet he is thankful for the help. Just curious: What do you teach? I hope you’ll find plenty of projects and ideas here to spur you on, and I hope you’ll be game for sharing some of your own, too—HOMEGROWN loooooooves sauerkraut, and I’d love to hear more about your experiments in cordial making—in our member blog, The Stew. Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you’ve ever got questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
