"If you do the dishes, you can come over for dinner anytime!!!! That is one bonus I get when the kids visit. In fact, I see dishes right now! lol

"I have been growing my own food for a while, now. I think nutrition is so important. When the kids were little chicks, I made their baby food at home, at first out of necessity, then by choice. My mom taught me how to can tomatoes…"
"Let's try this again. I make mittens, hats, scarves, skirts, bags and more from upcycled sweaters and other castoff clothing. www.handcandymittens.com

I am mom to 7, living in a little village in Northern New York, growning our own since forever! I have a little business making cool things from discarded clothing, and even used to live in a completely recycled house (which is now my studio). If it's not cooked at home, we generally don't eat it. I love to can and freeze the bounty and give a lot of it away, as well.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Braised beef short ribs (locally raised, grassfed), our own potatoes, swiss chard cooked like Utica greens, homemade bread ( by my hubby!)
The Sweeter the Juice
Currently listening to:
Fiona Apple's latest album
My latest DIY project:
Painting the studio, and building a greenhouse. Oh, and making maple syrup!
Hello, Charlotte! Welcome to HOMEGROWN—although I feel like we’re buddies already after our correspondence here and on Facebook this week! Nice to meet you, officially. My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content). I’m so glad you found us. We love getting our HOMEGROWN mitts on moms who love good food! I hope you’ll find plenty of useful projects and ideas here to spur you on, and I hope you’ll be game for sharing some of your own, too—maybe on some of your homemade goodies or on how you built that completely recycled house or on your short rib recipe or on how you’re building your greenhouse or on pretty much anything you’re up to (it’s all HOMEGROWN!)—in our member blog, The Stew. Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you’ve ever got questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
