Deb Shaded Deer Schorzman replied to Becca Harris's discussion 'What grows really well up here? Or doesn't?' in the group ElevatedGardening
"Altitude, soil and short growing season all have to do with what you can grow here in Colorado.  It is best to start most of your garden plants inside and give them a headstart.  Compost is a must for the sandy soil out here on the eastern…"

Robbie Knight replied to Becca Harris's discussion 'What grows really well up here? Or doesn't?' in the group ElevatedGardening
"Hi, Becca- In my limited understanding, it's got as much to do with soil quality and micro-climates a it does altitude, maybe more, depending. We have an area in the backyard that used to be a goat pen-for about 8 years. We had an AMAZING…"

What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Earth Mama, Dirt Under My Fingernails City Slicker
A bit about me:
I stay home with my kids (younger, and older when not in school) and work from home as orders come in (I make baby carriers). We just bought our first house, so I can FINALLY transition from gardening in containers on my patio to digging in the dirt!
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
hmm, the very last one would have to be my lasagna! Fresh tomatoes, fresh spinach, tofu ricotta, only thing I didn't make were the noodles and that's only because I'm not able to make them (yet!)
Currently reading:
Crockett's Victory Garden
Currently listening to:
my husband snore and my son make PEW PEW!! noises in the living room LOL
My latest DIY project:
transplanting the pretty purple wildflowers in the backyard to the small bed in front of the window out front... my progress from yard to garden in pics is here: http://bekajoi.livejournal.com
Web site I recommend:
