I get the greatest feeling of satisfaction when I look at my plate and realize that 100% of my meal was harvested just outside my back door. I live with my husband, Michael, in SW Alabama, on 40 acres of rural land that has not been farmed in many, many years. We operate an organic fertilizer business on the property, are constantly expanding our raised-bed permaculture gardens and are starting a pick-your-own fruit orchard that should start to bear fruit in 2012. We share our place with a wide variety of wild animals, a lone duck, 21 chickens and two loveable mutts do a great job keeping the critters outta the hen house.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Marinated & grilled venison backstrap, homegrown potatoes, romaine salad fresh from the garden with cilantro and baby carrots.
