From Consumer Kid to Farm Girl

My partner and I are working on leading a more natural life. We are slowly working our way up to one day farming full time an trying to become more self sufficient and less dependent on the corporate world and consumer goods. Our six year old daughter however is having a hard time with the transition. Before Boss came along, she and I lived a pretty processed existence. I didn't know there was another way. In the last year we have made a lot of changes, started making our own bread, products,…See More

What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Fill in the Blank
Fill in the blank:
faux-mish domestic anarchist
A bit about me:
I am a mama, a partner, and an aspiring domestic diva. I look at grocery shopping and cooking as a giant game of truth or dare. My partner and I are getting into our first battle with veggie gardening and furthering our quest to be as self reliant as possible.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
We made black bean burgers this week with fresh crumbs made from my homemade whole wheat sourdough and homemade corn bread. The beans we canned ourselves. We roasted mushrooms, peppers and onions and made a sauce of nutritional yeast and other various delights. Ahhhhamzing. Also made apple butter for the first time last weekend!
Currently reading:
In Defense of Food (again)
Currently listening to:
I am always listening to something different. My staples are modern rockabilly, classic folk and Neil Diamond. Always Neil Diamond.
My latest DIY project:
I am teaching myself to sew this year. I have spent the last week focusing on making menstrual pads. The goal is to perfect the stitching and design so i can make some to donate to the WIC program in our town along with cloth diapers. My partner is also working on our raised bed garden and compost heap, and a terrarium for lizards with our daughter who is 6.
How did you find HOMEGROWN.org?
i was looking for a sourdough cinnamon roll recipe. I found it.
