Originally from northern New England, currently residing in Midwest. Worked many years as a biologist, (animals, esp. aquatic). After receiving my Masters degree definitely decided I needed to be a freelance cook/baker/food stylist - which I now am :). Grow a small, organic garden on old, abandoned farmland.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
breakfast this morning! baked my bread & poached eggs from a friend's hens, (poached as in hot water, not petty larceny) . simple, simple and oh, so satisfying
Currently reading:
murder mystery written in 1920's England
Currently listening to:

My latest DIY project:
refinishing and repairing old kitchen cabinet from junk store
Hi, Allison. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content), and I feel a bit like we've traded places! I lived in the Midwest—Chicago, to be exact—for more than a decade and just moved to New England this spring. Your lifestyle/career/location changes sound lovely. I hope they’ve been fulfilling, and I’m glad to hear that Indiana has led you to a life of legal fresh egg cooking and not to a life of poultry crime. (I always love a good pun.) I’m curious to hear more about your cabinet project, too. One thing we haven’t tackled yet in our HOMEGROWN 101 series is a furniture-refinishing how-to. Is that something you might be game to guest-write? If so, let’s talk!
Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you’ve ever got questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
