My cousin, who is one the board, has the initials "AK." When you replied to my post about food safety modernization I was totally confused because she had just an hour earlier told me she hadn't looked at the post yet and her internet was down.

A bit about me:
I am very interested in homesteading, sustainable living, CSA's and many other things. My current living situation is a bit restrictive (no space, no land, even less money and few connections). Still I do what I can.
I am currently trying to educate myself, gather information and make connections. Once I am in a different situation, I would like to hit the ground running and be a positive and proactive force in making sustainable and healthy living a possibility for more people. I am particularly interested in helping urban and low-income communities.
I feel very passionately about many of the issues of this time, on both an environmental level, and a humanitarian one as well. I truly believe that by setting an example, educating others and listening to them as well, we can foster great change. All is not lost!
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
It would have to be my homemade spaghetti sauce. Where I live, I cannot find it in a jar, so I started making it from scratch. I don't think I could ever go back to the jar now- and that is fine by me!
Currently listening to:
I listen to almost anything. I am a huge music lover. It helps me to find the feelings I want to feel.

The big story this week is the first in a series of workshops put on by the Department of Justice and the Department of agriculture looking into antitrust issues and corporate concentration in agriculture. Now's your chance to weigh in - please take action through our site now.
Here's video from Thursday night's meeting before the DOJ/USDA workshop on Friday. It's farmers speaking about their views on corporate control of agriculture:
