Oh yes that is a first year Artichoke in the bottom left. Seems to butternut squash surrounded it :). Let's see it is a jungle in there but on the very lower left with the red/orange flowers is lemongrass, then there are butternut squash, armenian cucumbers, a cantaloupe planted by my little one from a cantaloupe she ate in the spring (can't see that one very well), tomatoes...lots of tomatoes (brandywine, yellow pear and I think some cherry tomatoes), there is broccoli back behind the tomatoes. Then I planted on the shorter brown stakes winter squash and in back of those are Scarlett Runner beans (don't let those get to big, they get really stringy and tough!) and then we have the monstrous Mammoth Sunflowers! I had to cut some down because the sprinklers couldn't get through to water everyone elses garden around me. Good stuff but most definitely will have a plan where I can walk through there next year! LOL!
Wow, Christy! Nice work! Is that cardoon or artichoke in the lower left? What else are we looking at?
My first year gardening turned out to be productive but definitely in need of more space and better planning! Next year :)
