I got sucked into a work crisis vortex and am just coming up for air. I am ready to go on chapter 3 and can upload the basics of my assessment at this point if anyone is interested (better late than never??) but have been asked by the company who has agreed to donate the land not to "open a public discussion, publish location, design plans or photographs until the board has given final approval". I suppose this counts as discussing...how exactly does one type an eye roll?

Ready on Ch. 3 as well! I think many of us got sucked into a black hole over the holidays!

I too got sucked into the holiday/kids/work/life vortex and am hopelessly behind.  I have been keeping up with the reading but my assessment may never be finished at this rate.  I did get the opportunity to go to a free permaculture lecture by Peter Bane.  Bane is a permaculture teacher and site designer who has published and edited Permculture Activist magazine for many years and has just released his book The Permaculture Handbook.  The book is written for temperate climates since he lives in southern Indiana as opposed to Mollison who is from Australia, a more tropical climate.  Of course I bought Bane's book, since I live not far away in Central Ohio.  I'm now reading both books (which is not helping me find time to finish my assesment).  So far I find the Bane book much easier to understand.  A quick glance at the patterning chapters is like night and day - are they even talking about the same thing?  I will have to read them to find out!

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad I finally got over my fear of being a failure and checked back in here. I keep asking myself. Holy crap, how are they keeping it together and getting shit done with - not one - but two or more little kids??!! Flu, virus, 105.3 fevers, ear infection and sinus infection + holidays + family + new job (still at Farm Aid, but in a different role - whoo, exciting!) have sidelined my studies.

I'm not far from having an assessment that's worth sharing, so this is a good kick in the ass to get going. I've started Ch. 3 as well (reading is somehow easier than finishing the assessment) so I hope to catch up in the next week. Thanks for everyone's energy and input so far. I've learned and have been inspired so much already!

oh, sweetie. i'm so glad you braved a comeback. i'll tell you how i get it all done, 1. both kids sleeping completely through the night most nights means i am adequately rested for the first time in 5 years, and i finally have the wherewithall to get up 1-2 hours ahead of them in the morning! 2. the iPad is connected to netflix. need i say more?

I saw the beginning of this in my email and then when I got here and saw the Netflix bit I cracked up, it's the same thing over here!
