Well, I know it's been a while, but my wife and I moved to a new house across town with a much bigger back yard AND full sun!  Plans for the new garden are under way.  More updates to come, but let me just say this:

Large fenced off garden, fruit trees/shrubs, small chicken coop, and compost operation...

...and that's just the beginning.

I have a pepper growing, bush beans bustin out, and the tomatoes are getting huge! Had to repot a few to bigger pots today. Looking for a good yield this year. I have a variety of mints growing like crazy now too. Hope we keep on getting rain, I water my in ground garden, and a lot of my stuff is in containers, so I'm not as dependent on it, but we still need the rain. Waiting to see how the summer heat affects the crop this year.

My first jalapeno is almost ready to pick!  Seems like it took a bit longer than normal, but hey, at least i've got one...now i can make some salsa!

Getting some rain up here in Copperas Cove, got a bunch of seedlings started and have to transition them outside now. Here's hoping the rain keeps coming!

We got 3 1/2 this week and our lake is coming back up.  Everything is starting to look green and healthy.

Got over 2" of rain this weekend down here in Austin!  We've got over 15" of rain so far this year, and man did we need it!  Everybody else get some rain too?

I always look at garage sales but grocery store, walmart and other stores still have them.  Estate sales can be a great resource as well.

I am also a member of the food preservation group, hoping that i might be able to learn about doing some pickling, preserves, jams, etc.  does anyone here know where i am able to get those old mason jars.  my mom used to have a number of them, and i know that is what i can use for these food ideas.  any tips would be great since i am literally an idiot about this stuff.  thanks.
