FLies around seedling station - help!

I have flies (not fungus gnats, but house flies) buzzing around my seed starting station. Never had that before. Anyone ever encounter this? The station is in my basement. This year, I added some worm castings as I changed seedlings to larger pots. Can that be the culprit?
