Celebrate the culture of agriculture & share skills (Growing! Cooking! Eating!)

Hello all,
Moved into a new house last week. It is a two story with a full basement. The house was built two years back. But the wiring in the house is a mess. and there is no supply in the basement.
I would like to finish the basement and I'm thinking about rewiring the entire house before doing so. I already called a licensed electrician from Toronto\ for this.

But I'm also thinking about rewiring the house by myself. I'm a DIY fanatic. Did many electrical projects in my old house. However, I'm not sure about this project. I mean, rewiring an entire house is not that easy.

But when I discussed this with my friends, they're saying doing the rewiring myself isn't a good option. Considering the house and the wiring is really old. So I am in a dilemma. Which is better- Calling an electrician or making it a DIY project?
